LICENSING AND AGREEMENTS OFFICER
(Temporary cover - 9 months)

MRC Technology is a technology transfer organisation responsible for adding commercial value to cutting edge scientific discoveries through strategic patent protection, creative licensing of intellectual property (IP), partnered research or further scientific development.
As well as offering technology transfer services to the UK’s Medical Research Council the Company has recently broadened its activity to include helping other charitable and academic organisations (such as AICR) with IP management and commercial development of healthcare-related science, thus bringing valuable income back to the organisations to help fund further research.
MRCT is seeking an experienced Licensing and Agreements Officer to join the Intellectual Property and Licensing division on a temporary cover basis of 9 months. You will participate in the preparation of a range of agreements covering licences, research collaborations, start-up companies, material transfers and other technology transfer-related contracts.
Your main responsibilities will be to draft and negotiate agreements related to (i) intellectual property arising in MRC Research Units and (ii) projects undertaken by MRCT’s Centre for Therapeutics Discovery.
Ideally you should have proven experience of drafting and negotiating agreements, preferably in an academic context. Education to degree level and qualifications in a biomedical-related discipline are desirable but not mandatory. The job requires good communication skills, including precise use of language, and an ability to work as part of a team. Experience in a technology transfer office would also be an advantage.
Your salary will be determined by qualifications and experience, in addition MRCT offers a final salary pension scheme, private health insurance and 31 days paid holiday per year.
